Little Book, Big Prayers: Spiritual Growth

To follow is an excerpt of the Introduction to the first “Little Book, Big Prayers” 4-book series scheduled for release October 27th.

Prayer should be contagious and something you would want to catch. Sometimes it is caught and taught by example from anointed men and women of God. The ideal way to catch the desire to pray is by accepting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour and being filled with His Holy Spirit. Our teacher and helper for prayer and living a redeemed life is through the Holy Spirit. When you yield to the enabling assistance of the Spirit you will want to commune and fellowship with God frequently. The Spirit helps us approach God with sincerity and humility.

Prayer is your access to the holy place, the presence of God–His glory, and for receiving revelation or the answer for your concerns. Developing a greater prayer life means you want to take hold of God. You want to know about Him, who He is, what He does, what He wants. You also find out who you are, why you are here, and what you can have. Prayer is your spiritual sustenance and helps you learn to yield and abide in Christ so you can become like Him.

As you pray you will experience the manifestation of kingdom alternatives to your circumstances. I heard someone say that prayers never die but live on before God until answered. If you want to communicate with God and gain a personal relationship with Him, you need to pray. Prayer is sharing your heart and mind about a matter with Him. God wants to hear from you even though He already knows what your needs are. Prayer is seeking His presence just to be in His presence. It isn’t necessary to want or need anything material to commune and fellowship with Him.

When you place God first in your life through daily prayer, you are introduced to a wealth of his promises. You can rest assured that He is your source. He deepens His relationship with you and causes you to see signs of change and your spiritual growth. You will find that you have greater peace and power to overcome obstacles and challenges. You will experience abundant living and provision. A deeper relationship through prayer reveals that God is truly omnipresent, omnipotent and omniscient.

Prayer makes you ready to receive His compassion, love, faithfulness, goodness, and strength. You will find an increase of His presence and glory in your environment. You will see His guidance and direction for your life and relationships. The scriptures say that you will reap what you sow. If you sow the seeds of prayer in the atmosphere, you will reap a harvest of blessing. That blessing includes, provision, protection, healing, and deliverance for every facet of your life.

When I Need to Trust

When I Need to Trust
A prayer from the new release
He That Healeth Thee

Lord I pour out my heart to you because you are my refuge. You have not forsaken or abandoned me. You are my strength and shield so I trust you with all my heart. When you help me my heart is filled with joy. I am able to sing songs of thanksgiving and praise. Each time I search for you, I find you and increase in the knowledge of who you are. You have kept my enemies from rejoicing when I have been overwhelmed. I am rescued from disgrace. My hope is in you when I pour out my complaints in your presence. As I place my trust in you Lord and do what is good, I live in safety and prosperity. At all times, I place my trust in you to combat fear. You protect and save me from destruction. Like an eagle you cover me with your feathers and shelter me under your wings. You are my God and I am devoted to you. I live to serve you only. Your faithful promises are my armor and protection. My confidence resides in knowing that you care for me.

I learn of your unfailing love each day as I am comforted by your Holy Spirit. Order my footsteps because I trust in the pathways you have designed for my life. I trust in you at all times and I do not depend on my own understanding. Those who listen to instruction will prosper. I follow your instructions and I prosper in every endeavor. I receive guidance and direction through your scriptures. I learn of your ways as I meditate upon you day and night. I listen for your council when I wait upon you in prayer. Those who trust the Lord will be joyful but the foolish chose their own way. So I chose the safety of wisdom and fearlessly trust you. You save me when I am weak. You are my strength and song, and you cause me to live victoriously.
