The Line to God is Never Busy

We have a God who is always available to commune and fellowship with us. Some people who have yet to develop this kind of relationship with Him tend to rely on others to motivate, encourage and pray for them. But He has given us the Holy Spirit to dwell in us, to lead, guide and direct us into all truth as He reveals Christ Jesus. God enables us to live the original intent that He had for His creation in the beginning.

It is amazing how modern technology has captivated us so much that many men, women and children spend the majority of our time glued to their electronic devices. They are seeking and sharing information, thoughts, desires, rants and intentions. I am glad that some look for and share the things of God.

On land-line telephones, if you want information you dial 4-1-1. This 411 is a local and long distance directory service. The operator will look up phone numbers that you request for a person or a business. Even a person search is available if you provide them with the phone number but don’t know what or who it’s for. 411 used to be free but now there is a cost for using the service.

But if you want information from the Lord, and a prophet is not around to give you a word, then God has provided His 4-1-1. His number is Deuteronomy 4:11 – “And ye came near and stood under the mountain; and the mountain burned with fire unto the midst of heaven, with darkness, clouds, and thick darkness. v12 And the LORD spake unto you out of the midst of the fire: ye heard the voice of the words, but saw no similitude; only ye heard a voice.” He wants you to know that when you want to speak to Him and hear from Him, He is available. He wants to fellowship with you any time, everyday.

If you have a problem with your telephone you can dial 6-1-1 to report it for repair. The phone company will determine the cause and fix the problem in their office or send a repairman to the cable box or your home. But it may take several days for it to be restored.

But if you think God hasn’t seen your issue or know that you have temporal needs, then He has given you a number where you find out what is available to and for you. His number is Deuteronomy 6:11 – “And houses full of all good things, which thou filledst not, and wells digged, which thou diggedst not, vineyards and olive trees, which thou plantedst not; when thou shalt have eaten and be full.” Declare it, believe and receive it. You have a promise and the benefits of being His son or daughter.

In an emergency, you would call 9-1-1 for any situation that requires immediate assistance from the police or fire department, or ambulance service. But if you have a spiritual challenge to your faith, hope and confidence that only God can rectify, He has provided us with His promises, old testament and new. His number is Deuteronomy 9:11 – “And it came to pass at the end of forty days and forty nights, that the LORD gave me the two tables of stone, even the tables of the covenant.” His new testament number is Hebrews 9:11 – “But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; v12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.”

Give God a call day or night — His number is never busy.

Prayer for Our Nation and Leaders

Psalm 2:8
Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance,
and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.

Father you urge us to pray for all people. We intercede on their behalf to give thanks for them. We ask you to help all government leaders and those in authority. May they live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. Lord you are the God of our fathers and you alone are the God in heaven. The kingdoms of this earth are under your rule. You are powerful and mighty and no one can stand against you. We are your people who are called by your name. We humble ourselves to pray and seek your face. We turn from our wicked ways so you will hear our cry in heaven. Thank you for forgiving our sins and restoring our land to righteousness. The earth is the Lords and everything in it, the world and all its people belong to you. You ask us to remember Israel and pray that they be saved and to pray for peace. You take great delight in Israel. We pray for every nation, tribe and tongue of the earth.

Your word says that when there is moral rot within a nation, its government is easily toppled. When the wicked are in power, the people groan. We pray for wise and knowledgeable leaders. When the godly are in authority there is stability and the people rejoice. Blessed and great is the nation who has a god near to them as the Lord our God. You are near us whenever we call on you. You are the Lord God both in heaven and on earth and there is none other. We are a people of this nation who know their God, so we are strong and will resist the enemy. Set us apart as holy to you Lord, and choose us from all the nations of the earth to be your own special treasure. We are not prey for other nations and wild animals will not devour us. We live in safety and no one frightens us. Nothing will hurt or destroy us because we dwell in your holy mountain. Just as the waters fill the sea, so will the earth be filled with people who know the Lord.

We go out and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Our president, government leaders and those who have authority over the people of this nation speak with divine wisdom. Our leaders follow your judgments that are fair, detesting wrongdoing. They will not violate their conscience to rely on prayer and the word of God. Strength, courage and wisdom in decision-making are based in spiritual principles. Their conscious is rooted in the foundation of truth and justice. Lord you are pleased when words come from righteous lips, speaking honestly. Our leaders are godly men and women who live in the land and their integrity remains in it. Every wicked leader will be removed from the land and their treachery will be uprooted. Each leader is accountable to Almighty God for their positions, and for the way they handle themselves. Unfailing love and faithfulness protects our leaders and they are made secure when they demonstrate love for your people and this nation.

Pray to Overcome Weariness & Burdens

John 14:16-18
And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.

Through the knowledge of God and my Saviour Jesus Christ, grace and peace is multiplied in my life. Lord your presence goes before me to give me rest. I dwell in a peaceable habitation, in sure dwellings and in quiet resting places. I have no fear because there is no fear in love. Lord, your perfect love removes all fear because fear brings torment. I am perfected in your love and I am not wearied or burdened. I submit myself to your will, I resist the devil and he has to flee from me. The Holy Ghost is my comforter who you have sent in the name of Jesus. He teaches me all things that I need to know and helps me to recall what you have said to me.

My heart is not troubled nor afraid because I have your eternal peace. I never forget the things you have taught me and I store your word in my heart. By your word, I have a long and satisfying life. You satisfy my soul in weariness and refresh my soul in sorrows. When I cry out, you hear me from your holy heaven and save me with the strength of your hand. You are my refuge, strength and a very present help in the times of trouble. You deliver my soul from obstacles and challenges that break my peace. I cast all my burdens upon you Lord and you keep me from being swayed or moved. My heart is strengthened and you are my portion forever when my heart and flesh is weak. My soul can rest in the Lord and I sleep peacefully because I am your beloved.

Prayer to Overcome Low Self-Esteem

Lord, create in me a clean heart and renew my spirit in righteousness. You formed and fashioned me according to your will and council. I am fearfully and wonderfully made and have been forgiven, made clean and reconciled to you by your grace. I am the temple of your Holy Spirit and you abide in me forever. You have chosen me to be one of your own because I was delivered from darkness into your marvelous light. Your scriptures declare that those who reverence you Lord are secure. You are a refuge for your sons and daughters and you surround me with your hedge of protection. Thank you for enabling me to walk in boldness. Your righteousness covers and keeps me from stumbling. The wicked run away when no one is chasing them but I am not afraid because you are my helper. You declare that I am above and not beneath. I am the head and not the tail and your loving kindness is my shield.

You hold me by your right hand my Lord and my God, and tell me not to fear because you are with me. I have your new mercies each day and you supply me with everything I need for life, peace and godliness. I am a branch connected to the vine. You are the vine and I am the branch connected to your life that flows through me. I am part of a chosen generation. I am a special person called a citizen of your holy nation. I am your ambassador. I am a representative in this world. I have faith, gentleness, self-control, and the fruit of the Holy Spirit dwells in me. I yield each day to my inheritance of your peace, liberty and glory. In quietness and confidence is my strength. You are for me and more than anything that can come against me.

Thank you for the indwelling presence of your Holy Spirit that helps me in any weakness. When I pray, He makes intercession to you in my behalf. I do not place my abilities above your strength because I rely on you. My confidence rests in the knowledge that you are my helper. So I have no need to live in fear of any challenge to my mind, body, soul and spirit. My self-esteem is not diminished. I have overwhelming victory in my life. That victory is through faith as I love and worship Jesus Christ. Each day I approach you with thanksgiving, praise, worship, prayers and supplications. I can ask for anything that pleases you and I know that you hear my voice. Thank you for your love, strength, peace and confidence. You show me everyday that I am your son/daughter and you are my God.

Confident In His Comfort

ConfidenceLord God I anxiously seek your comfort each day. My eyes behold the manifestation of your promises in my life. I am your son/daughter and know that you hear my prayer. I wait for your rescue that is never far away. Each day I renew my hope in your word. In the midst of sorrowful and tearful circumstances my lips praise and worship you.

Your love is unfailing and it comforts me. You have sent the Holy Spirit to abide with me and He is my helper and source of comfort. Your presence assures me of your love and peace, and restores my soul. I am encouraged by your word and consume it as my necessary food. My mind, body, soul and spirit is filled and nourished by your truth. Your promises revive me and they comfort me in all my troubles.

Lord you know every burden, trouble and weight that I must endure and you fill me with patience. Confidence in your deliverance helps me mature naturally and spiritually. In turn, I know how to minister and encourage others to live in harmony and peace. Through confidence in you I have liberty, a tender heart and a humble attitude. With one mind I sympathize with others. And I love others as my brothers and sisters. You are the God of love and peace who is always with me. You are the source of all mercy, comfort and strength. Thank you for helping me to be more confident. I praise you, the Father of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Connect to God

crutches-habakkukOften I have heard people refer to God as a “crutch” and they use the word in a negative connotation. Sometimes it is to make light of the believer’s faith, trust and reliance on God, or give the impression that God relishes a following of zombie-like, dysfunctional people incapable of a significant life. Those who intend to mock us with usage of the word “crutch” fail to understand the utility and functionality of the crutch.

Crutches are mobility aids used to counter a mobility impairment or an injury that limits walking ability. –Definition source: Wilkipedia

When you have been afflicted and decide to change your posture and connect to God, He should be welcomed as a crutch. His promises are your support and strength to compensate for every weakness. He is a crutch to facilitate your physical and spiritual healing. He comes along side you for natural and spiritual development, change, growth, and maturity. God is your crutch for any situation. (from “Talk to God with Affirmations of Faith”)

“Even to your old age and gray hairs I am he, I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you; I will sustain you and I will rescue you.”–Isaiah 46:4 (NIV)

Cry of the Heart and Soul — A Spiritual Anniversary

Redemption

Today is my spiritual anniversary!! Twenty-two years ago on this date, August 5th, I said YES to Jesus Christ as my Lord and Saviour. He has shown me each and everyday that I made the right decision and He has always and will forever be my King and Most High God. Hallelujah! Praise the Lord!

To follow is an excerpt from my book “Pray What God Says” where I shared the testimony of my acceptance of Jesus Christ into my life. Of all the testimonies I have, this is the greatest.

*****

Years ago, before accepting Jesus Christ as Lord of my life, I considered myself a decent person. Although I acknowledged God, I did not serve Him by reading or studying the scriptures, prayer or attending church. I thought I had everything that was essential for a good and happy lifestyle. But I had issues that troubled my mind and heart as well. With God excluded from my life, unfruitful decisions made solutions to my problems elusive. I resigned to accepting and responding to lingering challenges the way I thought best.

But God heard the cry of my heart when no one else was listening, and where no one else was looking. He reconnected me with a friend in a wonderful way. My best friend Cheryl sowed 13 years of obedient and dedicated evangelistic ministry into my life. She planted the seed of the Word in every conversation and watered it by taking me to church services, conferences, her family gatherings, and most important, intercession for me in her prayer closet. I believe that when the Lord heard my cry for something new, He heard and honored the cries of Cheryl’s heart to see me saved and filled with the Holy Spirit.

Throughout those 13 years I had many opportunities to accept an altar call but I refused, holding on to the notion that eventually, I could fix me all by myself. In retrospect, arrogance and stubbornness had been a barrier to my deliverance from the problems in my life.

On August 5, 1992, Cheryl needed to pick up some documents from an evangelist in Moreno Valley so I agreed to accompany her so she could use the Express lane. As we stepped into Evangelist Prosperity’s living room, I immediately felt very hot. It was as if someone was pouring hot liquid on my head. Although the air conditioner was on in her home, I rationalized that my body was adjusting to coming in from the very warm temperature outside. So I sat quietly to cool off. After a few minutes Evangelist Prosperity glanced at me and asked if I was saved. I said, “No.” Then she asked if I wanted to accept Jesus Christ as my personal Saviour. Without hesitation I replied, “Yes. Sure why not?”

As the three of us joined hands and Evangelist Prosperity began to pray for me, I felt the heat on my head intensify to what seemed like a thick liquid pouring from my head and neck, down to my feet. My heart raced, my legs felt too limp to stand. I thought I was having a heart attack or some other physical malady. I tried to tell them to call 911 but I couldn’t speak English. With tears streaming down my face, peace and joy enveloped my very being and my lips stammered in tongues for nearly an hour.

Cheryl fell to her knees weeping and praising the Lord because she was able to witness the fruit of her labor from the prayers, and the planting and watering of the Word into my life. To some it would seem that I had a radical conversion experience. But I would never trade it for anything else because that experience has kept me believing, knowing and trusting that God is real and He loves me.

In my introduction to this book [Pray What God Says], I reflected on the peace and joy I experienced when I first heard about Jesus Christ from Aunt Bessie. But when I decided to accept Him as my Lord and Saviour in 1992, that same peace and joy embraced me but in a greater measure. I am fully persuaded that God’s plan and purpose for my life is greater than I or anyone else could have fashioned it.

Since that day, I have learned that as you commit your life to Jesus Christ and receive the infilling of the Holy Spirit, there is a divine enablement to begin, build and establish a relationship with God. It is only through a relationship with Him, through learning the scriptures and prayer, that you will be able to live a regenerated life. This is a life that can be conformed and transformed daily to the likeness of Jesus Christ.

When my heart was crying out, I was not aware that it was directed toward God. There is a cry of our heart and it is of a hungry, thirsty spirit man crying out to his Creator. Even in death, the word says that the spirit of man returns to the Creator, our God. Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it. –Ecclesiastes 12:7.

If we consistently allow the cry of our heart be directed toward the Lord, we are better able to submit our soul (mind, will and emotions) to His spirit. We have to allow ourselves to be subject to, in daily reliance upon, and in compliance with God and His holy scriptures. Commitment to desiring our thoughts and behavior to be in consistent alignment with the Holy Spirit will yield a lifestyle led by a spirit man that is in deference to holiness and righteousness. This I say then, walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. –Galatians 5:16.

God created and enables our hearts to cry out to Him: And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father. –Galatians 4:6.
