God Is… Each & Everyday (Intro Excerpt)

To follow is an excerpt of the Introduction to the devotional “God Is… Each and Everyday”

If I asked the question, “who do you think loved God the most in the bible, besides Jesus,” I believe the overwhelming response would be David. The Book of Psalm, being the evidence, bears his passionate expressions of love, devotion, dependence, and submission to a holy God. The scriptures attributed to his writing, demonstrates an earnest heart-to-heart connection between God and man.

Throughout the bible God declares how much He loves us, and how He pursues us for reciprocation of that love. He gives us advice, instruction, precepts, and examples on how we can fall in love with Him and sustain that love. Each day, we have access to an open-book (Bible) examination to measure our level of faithfulness and devotion to Him.

When we accept the love of God by yielding our hearts to Him, accepting the redemptive work of Jesus Christ, we tend to fall in love with Him so easily. Of course it is the indwelling presence of His Holy Spirit that is our divine assistance to do so. We are so in love with God that we run and tell anyone who will listen how wonderful we feel. “God is so great and I will never stop loving Him” might be your easy, daily testimony and confession.

How wonderful it is to be smitten like never before because you now know what true and eternal love feels like. You profess that you will love Him more than your physical stuff.

Some poetically declare to themselves and others, “I have put away the idols. Nothing and no one comes before the Lord my Maker. Gone so far away from me are the things that are temporal, that gathers dust and perishes so quickly. Oh how my heart beats only for Him. I will never love anyone like I do Him, my beloved. He is perfection, He is true, and there is none like Him. I think of Him moment-by-moment, day by day, week by week. My thoughts of love and devotion never fails, because He provides for me, He protects me, He comforts and loves me with an everlasting love. When His name is spoken my heart skips, and I lie awake on my bed pondering what He will do next. I can’t stop praising and worshiping my God. So great is He, my possession and obsession.”

Did you or do you ever say or think that?

For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear;
but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

Romans 8:15 KJV

The Artist AKA Prince Might Be With The King

Many people all over the world are mourning the passing of the artist, AKA Prince. Personally, I hope he is in heaven, in the bosom of my Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

Last night I watched one of the programs that profiled some of his life. He followed a principle I admire and that was if he had guests at his home, alcoholic beverages, smoking, cursing and cell phones were not allowed.

At the close of the program, they showed him making a comment that I liked. I might not have written what he said verbatim but here goes.

“Every night I pray. I don’t ask much. Then I thank Him.”

I don’t know anything about his spiritual affiliation but I was additionally touched by a song entitled, “THE CROSS” that he penned and set to music. And it follows:

THE CROSS
by Prince

Black day, stormy night
No love, no hope in sight
Don’t cry, he is coming
Don’t die without knowing the cross
Ghettos to the left of us
Flowers to the right
There’ll be bread for all of us
If we can just bear the cross

Sweet song of salvation
A pregnant mother sings
She lives in starvation
Her children need all that she brings

We all have our problems
Some big, some are small
Soon all of our problems
Will be taken by the cross

Black day, stormy night
No love, no hope in sight
Don’t cry for he is coming
Don’t die without knowing the cross

Ghettos to the left of us
Flowers to the right
There’ll be bread for all, y’all
If we can just, just bear the cross, yeah

We all have our problems
Some are big, some are small
Soon all of our problems, y’all
Will be taken by the cross

The cross
The cross

So I wonder if The Artist, AKA Prince just might be with the King. I think he would like it.

My Letter to a New Believer

Thank you for writing me with your concerns about developing a relationship with God. I am happy that you are a new Christian and are confessing Jesus Christ as your Lord and Saviour. When you have done so the Holy Spirit comes to live in you. He is your comforter, helper and teacher and so much more. If you don’t have one, you should invest in a bible. You mentioned that you have difficulty finding a church. If you know someone who attends a church where there is sound biblical teaching, you should visit with them. Not just a Sunday service, but visit the bible study sessions. This is where you will learn about the character and nature of the trinity — God, Jesus Christ, and Holy Spirit. Scriptures will be explained to help you get a better understanding of how to apply the word of God to your daily life.

Learning and knowing the scriptures are a key to understanding that no matter what is going on in your life, God truly cares about you. He has an answer for everything, a solution for every problem, a blessing for every area of your life. Most of the time, our discouragement, hopelessness, sadness, loneliness is because we dwell too much on the unpleasantries of our past, and even present circumstances. This stifles our future. But God wants us to know and embrace right thinking. The scriptures says that we will have whatsoever we say. So we draw to ourselves or attract what we think and say about ourselves and our situations. I also suggest that you attend an intercessory prayer group that prays the word of God. Here you will learn how to pray and experience the presence of the Holy Spirit. He is that still small voice in your spirit who helps you make decisions, and gives you understanding about things when you ask.

If you want to learn how and what to pray, I include a link to my website that has prayer books to help you. All prayers are scripture-based and I provide a list of the scriptures that I used to create each prayer. Hopefully, they will give you a jump-start on having a prayer life that affirms the truth about what you might be experiencing. My inspirational book contains a few short stories where I share about some of my personal struggles. My past was a lot like yours, but now I have exceeding joy and freedom in my life.

For now I hope this helps you. Please feel free to contact me if you have any other questions. I am not a bible scholar, but I share my Christian experience as best I can. It is because I want others to know about and trust the God I serve. He has helped me, healed me so many times, and blessed me, my children and grandchildren so much that I can never deny Him.

On the “Free Gifts” page of the website, are PDF versions of some of my other books. You can download (no strings attached). I just like to share to hopefully encourage others to trust and love God even more than I do. Bless you child of God and have a wonderful day. Don’t forget you have the Best Friend of all — the Holy Spirit of our God, Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. You will come to know Him as long as you desire to.

In His Love and Service, Christine

The Line to God is Never Busy

We have a God who is always available to commune and fellowship with us. Some people who have yet to develop this kind of relationship with Him tend to rely on others to motivate, encourage and pray for them. But He has given us the Holy Spirit to dwell in us, to lead, guide and direct us into all truth as He reveals Christ Jesus. God enables us to live the original intent that He had for His creation in the beginning.

It is amazing how modern technology has captivated us so much that many men, women and children spend the majority of our time glued to their electronic devices. They are seeking and sharing information, thoughts, desires, rants and intentions. I am glad that some look for and share the things of God.

On land-line telephones, if you want information you dial 4-1-1. This 411 is a local and long distance directory service. The operator will look up phone numbers that you request for a person or a business. Even a person search is available if you provide them with the phone number but don’t know what or who it’s for. 411 used to be free but now there is a cost for using the service.

But if you want information from the Lord, and a prophet is not around to give you a word, then God has provided His 4-1-1. His number is Deuteronomy 4:11 – “And ye came near and stood under the mountain; and the mountain burned with fire unto the midst of heaven, with darkness, clouds, and thick darkness. v12 And the LORD spake unto you out of the midst of the fire: ye heard the voice of the words, but saw no similitude; only ye heard a voice.” He wants you to know that when you want to speak to Him and hear from Him, He is available. He wants to fellowship with you any time, everyday.

If you have a problem with your telephone you can dial 6-1-1 to report it for repair. The phone company will determine the cause and fix the problem in their office or send a repairman to the cable box or your home. But it may take several days for it to be restored.

But if you think God hasn’t seen your issue or know that you have temporal needs, then He has given you a number where you find out what is available to and for you. His number is Deuteronomy 6:11 – “And houses full of all good things, which thou filledst not, and wells digged, which thou diggedst not, vineyards and olive trees, which thou plantedst not; when thou shalt have eaten and be full.” Declare it, believe and receive it. You have a promise and the benefits of being His son or daughter.

In an emergency, you would call 9-1-1 for any situation that requires immediate assistance from the police or fire department, or ambulance service. But if you have a spiritual challenge to your faith, hope and confidence that only God can rectify, He has provided us with His promises, old testament and new. His number is Deuteronomy 9:11 – “And it came to pass at the end of forty days and forty nights, that the LORD gave me the two tables of stone, even the tables of the covenant.” His new testament number is Hebrews 9:11 – “But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; v12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.”

Give God a call day or night — His number is never busy.

Prayer for Our Nation and Leaders

Psalm 2:8
Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance,
and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession.

Father you urge us to pray for all people. We intercede on their behalf to give thanks for them. We ask you to help all government leaders and those in authority. May they live peaceful and quiet lives marked by godliness and dignity. Lord you are the God of our fathers and you alone are the God in heaven. The kingdoms of this earth are under your rule. You are powerful and mighty and no one can stand against you. We are your people who are called by your name. We humble ourselves to pray and seek your face. We turn from our wicked ways so you will hear our cry in heaven. Thank you for forgiving our sins and restoring our land to righteousness. The earth is the Lords and everything in it, the world and all its people belong to you. You ask us to remember Israel and pray that they be saved and to pray for peace. You take great delight in Israel. We pray for every nation, tribe and tongue of the earth.

Your word says that when there is moral rot within a nation, its government is easily toppled. When the wicked are in power, the people groan. We pray for wise and knowledgeable leaders. When the godly are in authority there is stability and the people rejoice. Blessed and great is the nation who has a god near to them as the Lord our God. You are near us whenever we call on you. You are the Lord God both in heaven and on earth and there is none other. We are a people of this nation who know their God, so we are strong and will resist the enemy. Set us apart as holy to you Lord, and choose us from all the nations of the earth to be your own special treasure. We are not prey for other nations and wild animals will not devour us. We live in safety and no one frightens us. Nothing will hurt or destroy us because we dwell in your holy mountain. Just as the waters fill the sea, so will the earth be filled with people who know the Lord.

We go out and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Our president, government leaders and those who have authority over the people of this nation speak with divine wisdom. Our leaders follow your judgments that are fair, detesting wrongdoing. They will not violate their conscience to rely on prayer and the word of God. Strength, courage and wisdom in decision-making are based in spiritual principles. Their conscious is rooted in the foundation of truth and justice. Lord you are pleased when words come from righteous lips, speaking honestly. Our leaders are godly men and women who live in the land and their integrity remains in it. Every wicked leader will be removed from the land and their treachery will be uprooted. Each leader is accountable to Almighty God for their positions, and for the way they handle themselves. Unfailing love and faithfulness protects our leaders and they are made secure when they demonstrate love for your people and this nation.

A Prayer When Feeling Insecure

Although an army might come up against me, I do not have a fearful heart. Warfare might come to the threshhold of my door but it does not overtake me. My trust and confidence is in you Lord. It is better to trust in your promises rather than putting my confidence in man.

Father you are my confidence and you hold me up when I have been attacked, overtaken, overwhelmed by people, places, events or the inexplicable. You are the Holy Lord and God who reveals the truth. My eyes are open to see the truth revealed in your scriptures. My ears are open to hear the truth of the spoken word.

All of my confidence and strength comes from being quiet and still in my mind. My confidence and strength comes from being quiet and still in my heart. My confidence and strength comes from being quiet and still in my soul. My confidence and strength comes from being quiet and still in my spirit. When I am quiet and still, I have your rest and peace. My rest and peace is in knowing what you can do.

I take comfort in knowing that you have begun a good work in my life by showing me purpose and destiny. None of my labor as your servant is cut off or in vain. I see the reward and harvest of what you have planned for my good and my future. I see the reward and harvest of what I hope for and my expected end. Your presence causes me to abide in your unfailing love. Your presence helps me to abide in your grace and favor. Your word and your presence helps me to rest, be still and know your peace. You Lord God are my strength and resting place.
